Why
Recycle?
In Britain
the average person produces 1/2 tonne of waste each year, and this is
rising all the time. At the moment the majority of this goes to landfill.
By putting
waste in landfill sites we are losing resources and we are causing high
levels of unnecessary pollution and environmental destruction.
By recycling
we reduce environmental pollution, reduce environmental destruction,
save raw materials, save energy, reduce air and litter pollution, reduce
the amount of land needed for landfill and creating jobs.
By reducing
the amount of waste we produce we can slow this process down. So remember
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
There are
many different ways to alter how much waste we produce.
