Learning and Literacy
Claire Low: ESOL and Family Learning Worker
Claire teaches English and Literacy to speakers of other languages from all over the world who now live in Govanhill. She teaches learners from Beginner to Pre-Intermediate. She also runs the Govanhill English Learners Facebook group. Join here: facebook.com/groups/govanhillenglish
Loraine Mchendry : ESOL and Family Learning Worker
Loraine is a tutor of English for Speakers of other languages and an SQA assessor- verifier. Loraine also delivers family learning and integrational activities working alongside local schools and partner organisations. She is the founder of Govanhill Children’s Festival and organises other events in the Govanhill community.
Roma Family Support
Roland Den: Community Development Worker (Romanian Speaking)
Roland works with the Romanian speaking communities around Govanhill, supporting them to improve their lives in relation to education, employment, health, housing and social connections. He also works more generally with local people on community development work. He also speaks Hungarian.
Martina Temkovitzova: Community Development Worker (Slovakian Speaking)
Martina works with the Czech and Slovakian speaking communities around Govanhill, supporting them to improve their lives in relation to education, employment, health, housing and social connections. She also works more generally with local people on community development work. She also speaks Czech.
Andrea Vegh: Community Development Worker (Romanian Speaking)
Andrea works with the Romanian speaking communities in Govanhill, supporting them to improve their lives in relation to education, employment, health, housing and social connections. She also works more generally with local people on community development work, particularly using her skills and experience as a translator. She also speaks Hungarian
Enterprise and Employability
Marie McBeth: Marketing and Partnership Worker
Marie is responsible for supporting our commercial tenants at Govanhill Workspace, Victoria Court and other locations. She markets our properties and supports our tenants to ensure they are well connected with the local community.
Ruth Plummer: Volunteer Co-ordinator
Ruth supports local people to access volunteering opportunities. She does this by offering training and support, as well as connecting people with local volunteering options.
Gillian Scott: Employability Worker
Gillian is leading on our employability service, helping local people find routes into work. Gillian offers a wide range of support from job search to CV writing, from interview prep to confidence building.
Community Engagement and Integration
Marzanna (Mana) Antoniak: Community Connector – Thriving Places Govanhill
Marzanna’s work revolves around strengthening community cohesion, accessibility of information, inclusive engagement, and capacity building. She works to enhance collaborations between organisations and ensure that the voices of residents influence services in Govanhill through the Locality Plan and beyond. She speaks Polish, Russian, Arabic, Spanish, some Slovak and Romanian.
Core Team
Ellen Feerick : Administrator
Ellen supports the work of all GCDT teams and staff with a wide range of vital administrative tasks as well as providing support for the team coordinator.
Workspaces Administrator
David Zabiega: Sustainable Communities Coordinator
Dave is the team coordinator and has overall responsibility for GCDT’s programmes of work and commercial activity.
