Govanhill Housing Association will mark Anti-Poverty week with a series of events for residents. From the 6th until the 13th of October the Association will run events every day with a focus on reducing social isolation, budget management and ways to save money. The event is being organised by the Association, with support from their contractors C.A.S and MEARS Group.
The full programme of events is as follows
Monday 6th October 11-2.30pm Jamieson Court: Knitting session led by residents of Jamieson Court followed by a Fish Supper
Tuesday 7th October 1.30-4.30pm: ‘Making your Money go Further’ event in the Samaritan House Community Hall, featuring staff from welfare rights & employability as well as external agencies such as step change, smart works, South Seeds, Glasgow Helps, The Well, Apparel Exchange.
Wednesday 8th of October 10-12noon at the Larkfield Centre: MERGE (Minority Ethnic Resident Group Empowerment) Event! Will feature Henna Tattoos, and all attendees will get a bag of soup ingredients and recipe.
Thursday 9th October 10-12 noon, Samaritan House Community Hall: Repairs workshop with MEARS Group. Soup and sandwich provided.
Friday 10th October, 10-12noon: Good House Keeping on a Budget, looking after your home on a low income.
Monday 13th October, 10-12noon: Session for parents/carers & their children on the first day of the school holidays. Arts and crafts and a free lunch box
