Stock Condition Surveys
To help ensure our homes continue to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, Govanhill Housing Association carries out regular assessments of the condition of our housing stock. These surveys help us plan future investment, identify any necessary repairs or improvements, and maintain high-quality homes for our tenants.
We have appointed Brown + Wallace, an independent surveying consultancy, to undertake Stock Condition Surveys on our behalf. Surveys are due to commence in mid-January 2027, with approximately 250 properties scheduled to be visited.
If your home has been selected, you will receive a letter with details of your appointment. We would be grateful for your cooperation in providing access, as the information gathered is important in helping us plan and deliver future improvements to our homes.
All surveyors will carry official identification, and residents should always ask to see this before allowing anyone access to their property. If you have any concerns or would like to verify an appointment, please contact the Association on 0141 636 3684 and provide your address. Our staff will be happy to assist.
South West Govanhill Property Acquisition and Repair Programme (2016–2026)
The South West Govanhill Property Acquisition and Repair Programme was established to tackle some of the most challenging housing conditions in the area, transforming properties that had suffered from years of neglect into high-quality homes for social rent. Delivered in partnership by Govanhill Housing Association, Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government, the programme has focused on acquiring privately owned properties, carrying out extensive refurbishment works, and improving the long-term management of tenement buildings across the neighbourhood.
Over the past decade, the programme has played a significant role in the wider regeneration of Govanhill, helping to improve housing standards, address derelict and substandard homes, and support more sustainable communities. Alongside the renovation of individual properties, investment has also been made in common repairs and the ongoing maintenance of tenement buildings to protect Glasgow's traditional housing stock for future generations.
Achievements to date include:
- £60 million of investment from the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and Govanhill Housing Association
- 438 properties acquired from private landlords and owners
- 430 properties refurbished and brought back into use as social rented homes
- 77 additional buildings brought under Govanhill Housing Association factoring management
- 27 common repair projects completed to tenement buildings across the area
The programme has delivered lasting improvements to both housing quality and neighbourhood conditions, ensuring hundreds of homes remain affordable, well-managed and fit for future generations.
Kitchen and Bathroom Replacement Programme
Govanhill Housing Association's ongoing Major Repairs and Investment Programme continues to improve tenants' homes through the replacement of kitchens and bathrooms that have reached the end of their expected lifespan. These upgrades help ensure homes remain modern, functional and comfortable, while maintaining the quality of the Association's housing stock.
The current phase of the programme is underway in the Merrylee area, with MP Group appointed as the contractor. Homes included in this contract are located on Ashmore Road, Burrelton Road, Cherrybank Road, Friarton Road, Glasserton Road, Muirskeith Road/Crescent/Place, and Newlands Road. MP Group will contact affected tenants directly to arrange survey and installation appointments.
Preparations are also underway for the next phase of the programme. Govanhill Housing Association is currently carrying out surveys of properties in Allison Street, Bankhall Street, Cathcart Road, Dixon Road and Hollybrook Street, with works expected to commence early in the new year.
Through this ongoing investment programme, the Association continues to enhance the quality of tenants' homes and ensure they remain fit for the future.
